Pickleball Personas
The People (personas) of Pickleball

As the popularity of pickle ball continues to grow, more and more people are getting into the game. But what kind of people are playing? What are their motivations? What do they hope to get out of the game? .
.In this blog post, we'll take a look at the different types of people who play pickle ball, and what motivates them to keep playing.
The Hardcore Pickle Baller is someone who takes the game very seriously. They are always looking for ways to improve their skills, and they love competition. They often play in tournaments, and they are always trying to beat their best score. .They can be intense, not always. But the hardcore pick baller might not want to play with the either the Social Pick or Beginner Pickle Baller.
If they are not confident that you are near or close to their level, they'll try and avoid you. A player recently told me that he has experienced level discrimination. This is where people of a certain level don't want to play with others. I think we all have had experience. In fact, as you begin to get better, it's hard to play with less competitive groups.
I try to be better. I will play with new players and the social players—I just adjust my expectations. The games I LOVE are competitive—fast and aggressive.
The Social Pickle Baller is someone who loves playing the game with friends (and they might talk a lot). They play just for fun, and they play for the laughs. They may not be as good at the game as the Hardcore Pickle Baller, but they are just as competitive. .
The social pickle baller usually prioritizes the fun and laughs over the game. They can be fun to play with, but also frustrating if you are in the mood to improve or compete. Or if you know it has the potential to be a GREAT game—because of the team you're playing. But, your partner is more about the feels—ensuring that if it's even close to the line they give the team the point or the side out.
The Beginner Pickle Baller is someone who is just starting out in pickle ball. They may be someone who watched a friend play the game and then decided to give it a try. Or maybe they heard about pickle ball on TV, and decided to give it a try. Either way, the Beginner Pickle Baller is someone who is new to pickle ball and is trying to learn as much as they can about the game.
I'm trying to teach my 15 year old son how to play pickle ball. He is probably going to a social pickle baller (if he keeps with it). My partner and I tried to teach him early on, but we were learning and wanted to play more than we wanted to teach kids. Now, that I've played for the last year straight, I feel like the best way for any Beginner to start—is with drills. That is what he and I are doing—I'm teaching him to dink, how to do a third shot drop. My hope is that he'll accelerate faster than I did! .
Great Fun—For Everyone
Pickle ball is a great, fun sport for the whole family. However, there are many nuances to the sport that don't have to do with the rules—from the different personalities to how to find locations to play.
I am probably more of a hard core pickle baller, but I am not doing tournaments. I don't enjoy playing with — .
- "Coach" the guy (usually) who has advice for you even while he is banging it into the net or hitting it out. .
- The women who "we need to play mixed doubles"—like we can't beat a couple of guys. Not a fan of this one.
- RUDE anyone--men, women, 4.0, 4.5, 3.0 ... keep your negative energy at home .
It's a like a small snapshot of the world—a little bit of everyone coming out and you sort of end up with awesome people, rude, crazy .. you name it they are playing.
But, I try to be the change—I'd like to see. And, sometimes I just fail.
